Butterfly Garden
This garden mainly taught me about the relationship between plants and butterflies. Butterflies need plants and plants need butterflies.
I heard that the people at the Camden Children's Garden feel very lucky to have a statue of Walt Whitman in their Butterfly Garden. He was a famous writer who lived in Camden. One of his famous books is entitled, Leaves of Grass. A Camden resident, John Gionotti, made a larger than life sculpture of Walt Whitman for the City of Camden. The City of Camden thought that Walt would look terrific in the Butterfly Garden since his arm is outstretched and a butterfly has landed on his hand.
Much of the plant material for this garden was donated by Triple Oaks Nursery of Franklinville, NJ, who are originally from Camden, and Flaggs Nursery of Moorestown, NJ.
