Dinosaur Garden
WOW! Is that an Apatosaurus? As you leave
the Violet Plaza, you can walk up the path into a shady, pre-historic environment.
The large, red Apatosaurus is standing next to a waterfall, in a pool of
water. Believe it or not, it's made from recycled car parts! Now that's
some recycling project. Artist Jim Gary said it took over four cars to make
this dinosaur. I think it would even look great in the evening covered with
lights during the holidays. If you like
Paleontology, try digging in the sandpit. I'll bet that you can find some
old dinosaur bones donated by Chicago's Field Museum. How many can you find?
The people at the Camden Children's Garden told me that you can use magnifying
glasses to examine some of the fossils in the stonewall. I'm
pretty sure that the baby Hadrosaur, New Jersey's State Dinosaur, just hatched
out of one of those eggs. When you visit, try climbing into one and imagine
what it was like to be a baby dinosaur surrounded by Ginkgo trees.
