Plaza de Aibonito, Puerto Rico
Don’t miss the exciting Plaza de Aibonito,
Puerto Rico tropical exhibit past Ginkgo’s Gift Shop and the Garden’s
Main Office. This exhibit looks just like the plaza in Aibonito, a beautiful
town in Puerto Rico known as the “City of Flowers”.
A plaza is a fun meeting place for local community
members, but it is also the center of town! That is why you can see a “Fachada
de Iglesia” (Church facade) and a “Fachada Municipal”
(Municipal Building facade); these are two buildings that are always found
in a plaza. Of course, no plaza would be complete without bright tropical
flowers, towering palms, and tropical fruit. Because
of its annual “Festival de las Flores” (Festival of Flowers)
and the beauty of this mountain city, Aibonito is referred to as the “Garden
of Puerto Rico”. I think it’s neat to have a garden within a
garden! Each June, the Camden Children’s
Garden presents Festival de Aibonito, a special event that celebrates this
exhibit and the culture of Puerto Rico with games, crafts, song & dance
and much more! Don’t forget to stop by!
